Energy types Lawrence Watson 19 June 2017 Solar energy is one of the cleanest and most used renewable energy sources we have. Solar power is an energy that comes from the sun in which changes into thermal or electrical energy. The sun generates solar energy that can power solar cells also known as photovoltaic (PV). We use that solar energy source to put on top of house rooftops so that it can generate light or electricity. Solar energy is used for generating electricity, providing light, water heating or for commercial or industrial use. There are many opportunities for solar power to become seen everywhere in the next few years such as on houses, cars and even in big corporation companies. There is also going to be many challenges that will need to be faced if we do have solar energy as an everyday source like the cost, manufacturing and the reliability of sunlight. The advantages that come with solar energy is that it is a renewable resource. Solar energy can produce electricity as long as the sun shines. It's a eco friendly resource. Solar energy is clean due to how it helps with reducing the carbon emissions that are being released into the air. It is non polluting, reliable and renewable energy source. Solar energy doesn't pollute any gases like carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide or sulphur oxide so there is a low risk of damage for the environment. Solar energy will become big more big in the future due to how severe climate change is getting and how the earth's temperature is starting to rise. Solar energy will eventually become a main resource because fossil fuels are damaging the planet and by switching to solar it can help the planet by reducing the CO2 emissions and help the planet by making it cleaner. It will help reduce carbon footprints. The disadvantages that come along with having solar energy is that it isn't very reliable in certain areas such as if a place was always cloudy it would be difficult to generate sunlight and it would cause the solar energy source to fail on the PV panels. Also if the sun isn't shining such as the night you won't be able to generate any power for the electricity so overall it must be sunny outside in order to be able to get solar energy. Solar panels also are very pricey due to all the material that are in the PV panels. The PV panels are made of silicon which covers only 25% of the entire cost but they also have to cover labor, permits, overhead, marketing and hardware. The process itself of making the PV panels causes a huge controversy due to how it isn't so eco friendly when making the panels because of the pollution that is made when the panels are made. Even though solar panels aren't reliable we can still generate a little bit of power through the panels by getting the rays of the sun through the clouds. It doesn't mean that it's impossible that we can't have solar energy. Solar energy can change the planet's future by making it become more cleaner and help by reducing the earth's CO2 emissions in the air. Solar Panels can also help by decreasing the earth's view on the earth will be in the future due to climate change. Although there are a few challenges that need to be faced so that solar energy can become a main resource, it doesn't mean that its impossible that it can't it just means we need to find a way so that we can help to improve the planet. That's why we should have solar energy become a main energy source.
